Top Ten Reasons to Vote for Steve Luecke

  1. I support a 1% LOIT to provide property tax relief for all residential property, including rentals.
  2. $200M Eddy Street Commons development which is attracting attention across the region and the nation.
  3. Three new fire stations and the new headquarters for PD have been built during my tenure – part of my commitment to providing our public safety officers with the best facilities, equipment, technology and training as they work diligently to keep our city safe. It could also stand for the three new miles of river walk that are part of our commitment to quality of life for our residents.
  4. 4 x 10 = 40, 40 miles of fiber optic cable in the MetroNet which helps existing businesses to thrive and will attract new high tech companies to SB. With the Tech Park that will start next year just south of ND, we will have the backbone for high tech entrepreneurial businesses that will help our economy to flourish.
  5. 500K sq. ft. of new retail at Erskine Village (and another 200K sq. ft. at Erskine Commons) putting SB back on the map for retail. But also, $500M new investment at Blackthorn creating 3,000 new jobs and retaining 7,000 good, quality jobs for our community.
  6. At least six consecutive years that we have reduced city staffing without cutting essential services. Since 2000 we have cut 95 positions from our workforce as we provide leaner, more efficient government.
  7. 7,000 people attending ArtBeat. Downtown is alive and well as the center of art & culture, business & finance. The renovation of the MPAC and the Palais were key to this resurgence. We’ve come a long way in ten years.
  8. 8 x 2 = 16, a quick count of the number of major projects by new or expanding businesses in downtown, bringing new jobs, new residences and new entertainment venues; this does not include the major expansions by Crowe, Press-Ganey or EHL.
  9. We have added nine police officers to the force, and, through good management, we have reassigned 30 more officers to the streets. This has helped us to bring crime down by 24% since I became Mayor.
  10. Ten years experience as Mayor, leading this city, improving quality of life and public safety, stimulating $1.3B in new construction, bringing 1000s of new jobs.

I am excited about South Bend. We have prepped the ground for major investment that will bring new jobs, new housing, and new creativity. During my next four years we will continue to invest in and advance SB’s high tech, high wage economy; we will expand our progress in public safety and quality of life; and we will keep city government lean, green and clean – and fully accountable to its residents.
